Nikon announces the D90 - with video

Nikon has announced a new DSLR, the D90, to ship in September at a suggested retail of $999.

The D90 is an upgrade to the D80 and includes a video mode.

Main features include:

  • 12 megapixel sensor
  • One Button Live View
  • Self-cleaning sensor
  • built in flash
  • Video mode up to 720p
  • 4.5 fps

Canon announces EOS 50D and new lens

 

Canon has announced the EOS 50D, the successor the the EOS 40D.

Features:

  • 15.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
  • 6.3 fps continuous shooting
  • DIGIC 4 processor
  • ISO 100-3200, expandable to 12800
  • 9-point wide area AF
  • 3.0” Clear View VGA LCD with Live View mode & Face Detection Live AF
  • Self Cleaning Sensor
  • HDMI connection for viewing and playback on a High Definition TV

 The 50D is expected to ship in October at a price of $1395.

 

Canon also has announced a new all-purpose zoom, the 18-200 f3.5-5.6 IS at a price of $695.

 

Epson announces new photo viewers

 

 Epson has announced two new multimedia viewers, the P-6000 and the P-7000.

The new viewers have a four-inch VGA LCD with a four-color filter system with over 16.7 million colors and the Adobe RGB color gamut.

The P-6000 has an 80GB hard drive while the P-7000 doubles up with 160GB of storage for your RAW and JPEG images. Epson claims that these image viewiers are 35 percent faster than previous models.

Both viewers have the ability to playback video and audio files and have built-in CF  and SD slots.

Availability should be in September for Epson P-6000 and P-7000 for $599 and $799 respectively.

 

Noise Ninja now available as a plugin for Aperture

PictureCode has released its Noise Ninja noise reduction application as a plugin for Aperture.

Adobe Releases Lightroom 2.0

 

Adobe has released Lightroom 2.0 after an extended beta period.

New features include a localized adjustment brush, support for multiple monitors, improvements in handling external hard drives, enhanced sharpening, 64- bit support and new smart collection options.

Lightroom 2.0 is $299 for new users and $99 for upgrades.
